Day 1 - Welcome to Kiel Firth
The ones who grew up, just like us, at the Baltic Sea will know and love them – our legendary beach parties.
A fantastically beautiful location directly at the beach of the Firth, under the lighthouse of Friedrichsort, passing ships nearly close enough to touch, soft, relaxing music in the background and a cool drink in the hand: this way we will experience the sunset together on the sandy shores of the Kiel Firth. Right on the dike, on the grounds of the well known restaurant Deichperle the Welcome Party of the Geocaching Days will take place – just like never before at another event. During this exceptional Meet & Greet an informal get-to-know among Geocachers of many nations is set.
Of course, there are Geocaches awaiting to ge logged along the beach, a special highlight is a few kilometers away in the water – a submerged cache, which you can log with a little skill and good lungs even without scuba gear. Those who prefer it less wet and instead like to go to heights can do climbing during day and nighttime (seperate ticket needed).
With your new Geoaching friends from around the world, it surely brings twice as much fun to log new founds. Of course, those who want can also just go swimming in the Baltic Sea or have a good time at the beach.
Self-catering is welcome here, although, the offer of the “Deichperle” is worth to have a closer look. Here you will find typical Kieler “beach-food” at very reasonable prices. Many different dishes are offered from french fries up to the very popular fish sandwiches, even vegetarian dishes are no problem. There will be a special menu just for this evening, which will be published in due time.
After so many geocachers from all over Europe have contributed to the invitation film with the message in a bottle [YouTube], we now will bring the motto to life:
Welcome to Kiel
